A soldier with 3rd Platoon, Comanche Company, 1-501 IN (ABN) (Task Force Blue Geronimo) out of Fort Richardson Alaska gathers intelligence (such as retina scans, finger prints, DNA samples and mug shots) on all the men that live in the village of Taroba located in the Terazai district of Khost province. The purpose of the mission is to conduct a biometrics sweep on all the men of "fighting age" in order to cross-check their data bases when conducting forensic research on the such incidents as IED detonations, suicide bombers and other insurgent-related activity throughout the country. International forces are increasingly relying on Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) such as the Afghan Border Police (ABP) in conducting village searches, key village leader engagements and biometrics intelligence gathering operations in preparation for the 2013 handover of security operations to the ANSF. ©Javier Manzano
