The basement of an empty building serves as the operating room to a clandestine clinic where Dr. Rami, a medical doctor who used to reside in England, returned to his homeland to volunteer his services to the Syrian people. "We treat anyone and everyone, from Assad soldiers to Free Syria Army, that is our mission" said Dr. Rami as he smoked a cigarette during one of the rare quiet moments the village has seen over the past few months. The Assad army is based on a mountaintop directly in front of this small town turning its streets into a virtual ghost town. Constant shelling by artillery and tanks ensures that a steady stream of mutilated patients pass through the halls of this small clinic Dr. Rami, along with another colleague set up four months ago on the front line of the hills that span the north western section of Syria. ©Javier Manzano
